From the deep rest and renewal of Winter to the long fiery summer days, our ancestors lived in harmony with the seasons and the sun’s rhythms dictated when they sowed, harvested and rested.
Woodland Seasonal Ceremonies
In ancient times the calender was attuned to the cyclical change of the seasons but we now live in a way that is largely disconnected from these natural rhythms. This can make us feel a little out of balance, affecting our physical and mental health.
We gather in the woods every 6 weeks to celebrate the seasonal wheel of the year, helping us to re-align with nature’s rhythms and deepen our connection with ourselves, each other and the earth.
By tuning into the seasonal energy we can see how there is a right time in the year for everything. There is a time to set intentions, a time to make decisions and plans, a time to move forward with our goals and to step into our power. There is a time to release what no longer supports us and a time to turn inwards to rest and restore our energy.
The wheel of the year offers a holistic approach to life, which can benefit many aspects of our wellbeing. It can positively impact our mental health and can help us to embrace our emotions at different times, fostering self-compassion. The wheel also helps to develop present-moment awareness and a deep relationship with nature, increasing feelings of joy and peace. It can transform the way we view seasonal changes, turning them from potential moments of dread (as Winter approaches) into opportunities for appreciation, connection and purpose.
I hold these woodland ceremonies with Sally-Ann, a local forest school leader. They include a fire, nature meditation, mindful movement, learning about and tuning into the energy of the specific time of year, craft activities, nature poetry, and insights into local medicinal plants and seasonal edibles. We finish by sharing a seasonal tea.
We hold the ceremonies on a Sunday from 10am -12.30pm in the first half of the year and from 3pm-5.30pm in the second half to fit with the mood of the season. We have a maximum of ten people to create a cosy and intimate atmosphere. If you would like to come along it would be lovely to hear from you.

Testimonials
'Laura and Sallyann are a great team and are utterly absorbing. The mixture of calming philosophical prose, meditation, mindful movement and practical lessons in nature and foraging along with playful and mesmerising activities make this a woodland treat perfect for those seeking calm and inner peace. I can't praise them enough for opening my eyes to the natural world around me whilst equally soothing my soul. They are inspiring us all with a new way of living' Jelena
'It was a joy to be with you in the sunny wood around the fire and experience truly deep nourishment for the soul. Thank you both for your wise words and thoughtfulness.' Nicky
'I really enjoy these ceremonies. I think the reverence is an important part of it. It feels like a special time that frees you to tune in and be attentive to nature. That’s what I love about it, along with connecting with the ever-turning seasonal cycle.’ Daniel
‘These ceremonies help us to deeply appreciate nature and the wheel of the year. I’m actually looking forward to the next stage now rather than the idea of rushing through to a time of year perceived as better.’ Sarah
